MORE DECKS

On this project we replaced a worn cedar deck with new mahogany decking, attached with invisible fasteners.  While we re-surfaced the deck we eliminated the annoying step down between the house and the pool by lowering the joists on the area nearest the house.

The new railing is from Novaline and features lighted caps on the posts.

At the entrance to the house we added a new stoop to compensate for the step we created by lowering the deck nearest the house.

The corners around the pool were woven rather than mitered and the first five boards at the pool edge were fastened with surface mounted screws to make the scuppers and the pool coping accessible.

The Novaline railing was also added on the ramped area to the outdoor shower and on the front porch entry stairs.  Note that we custom fitted the Novaline railing to accept a wide mahogany railing.

The self-closing gate at the bottom of the ramp is aluminum designed to mimic the Novaline balusters.

The picture to the right shows the early framing of a second floor deck addition wherein we connected the guest bedroom and the Master Bedroom with a deck.
